SCINEMA is the perfect program for your school, university, club or community group to help celebrate National Science Week (mid August every year).

We have watched hundred of films, and from that, we hand-pick programs that align with the Aussie curriculum or with general interest.

You register to access the films, and then you decide what to do after that… You might play them in your classroom, or put on a film night, or get a guest speaker along to introduce one of the film programs.

If you are a school, check out our school programs page for 2026. You might see a set of films that appeals to your students’ interests or your teaching plan. To access them, you need to register your interest on the National Science Week website or email us. The SCINEMA screening program will go live on this website in early August, and registered schools will be issued a password to access them.

The screening page will be live across the fortnight of NSWk and you can stop and start the films, or just pick the ones you like out of the program to play.

We make SCINEMA free for any non-commercial venue to participate. If you want to run screenings (during National Science Week in August 2026) at your town hall, library, university society or residence, scout group or other community organisation, register your interest on the National Science Week website or email us. SCINEMA will issue a password-protected Vimeo link to play our curated program of finalist films. You may wish to augment our curated Festival program with your own local science hero to introduce, or curate your own Q&A session to follow your screening.

We also appreciate that you might not be able to join one of our venue or school screenings, for reasons geographical, health or otherwise, and as long as you have an internet connection, we’d still love to connect you with our 2026 program (during National Science Week in August 2026). Register your interest to be an at-home viewer by sending us an email. Note that our program is dependant on our number and quality of entrants, and we won’t be finalising our 2026 program until early August 2026.
